Fedora Installation Badness in panic

I just bought the parts for a computer and am trying to install fedora core 4.

PC is 200 GB HDD
1 GB ECC RAM
no floppy
CD-RW

it always gives me the same error in whatever option i choose.

the page starts going:
Loading vmlinuz.....
Loading initrd.img.........

Then goes to another page

Badness in panic at kernel/panic.c:119 (Not tainted)
and bunch of letters

Please help me. I have burned like 3 different CDs already. So i dont think the CD is the problem. It may be a configuration thing. I'm new to linux but very eager to learn. I have been trying for over a week and nothing seems to work. Please help.

Leo

Sounds like a possible hardware problem. Have you run anything at all successfully on this new hardware? Pull out the RAM and re-set in in the socket. Same for drive connectors, PCI cards, etc. Are you able to boot a live CD like Knoppix? Doing so may provide enough diagnostic capability to sort out the problem.

Good luck.

I had similar problems when installing from a DVD tha came from a tutorial book.

The bootable DVD had several options to let you select what sort of install I wanted.

I had to enter "linux noprobe" to get it to install without any hassle. Not sure what options you have at your disposal.
