Fedora Graphical Start problem

I have successfully installed fedora 4 on a toshiba portege 3500. I can startx with out a problem. However, I want to be able to boot in graphical mode.

I have made sure that grub.conf has rhgb in the kernel line. Also, that iniitab was set to level 5, "id:number:initdefault:". However, the system still boots into a text inteface that simply has a "localhost login:" prompt.

Is X actually starting and failing, or is it just not starting at all?
