fedora five firefox flash follies

I just installed Firefox 1.5.0.5 on FC5 (See another thread in re installing an earlier version of the libstdc++).
Trying to install Flash 7 from Firefox--it appears to install, but does not work.
Also tried a manual install--same pattern.

In PCLinuxOS, I installed v1.5.0.4 and flash was working out of the box.

Testing this on the dreamlinux site-- http://www.dreamlinux.com.br/english/index.html

How???, I just install firefox-1.5.0.5 myself (created an rpm for it) and did not have to install flash again (as it is 'still' in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins).

I have posted instructions on this forum on how to do this (for firefox-1.5.0.4) a few times like this one;

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=467131

Works just fine for the flash on the URL you listed.

$ rpm -qa --qf="%{n}-%{v}-%{r}.%{arch}.rpm\n" firefox
firefox-1.5.0.5-1.i386.rpm

Yes, I keep forgetting that Fedora now seems bent on not supporting third party applications.

excellant post marozsas

I have seen this all over the web, fc5 users having problems getting flash to work. Your post, marozsas, should be a permanent sticky in all the forums. Thanx!
