Fedora Core and KDE 3

I see a lot of screen shots of people using KDE 3 - is there a way I can upgrade my version of KDE that comes with the install of Fedora?

I am not even sure what version of KDE comes with Fedora Core 1?

I hear a lot of people say update this and update that via YUM but I am so new to linux and have no idea how to any of this.

Do `rpm -q kdebase` and you will see your version.

Here you have data to add to your yum.conf (or apt if you use it) so it could update your kde.

sorry, I have no idea how to use yum?

Do I go into terminal and enter a command? or do I first download something to my home folder (in desktop) and then run the command?

I just donmt understand how YUM works

enter terminal
# cd /etc
# gedit yum.conf

(and then add lines specified in the site for yum at the end of the file and save it and close gedit (you could any other editor))

# yum update

Same problem

Thanks for the help Lito and Watchdog.
I tried your advice (using yum) and looks like it wants to work but when I try to -

yum install kde themer qt arts kdelibs kdebase

It works fine until it tries to resolve the dependencies and I get this error.

.conflict between kdebase and lisa
conflict between kdebase and kxmlrpcd

Does this mean I need to update these other files or that they are not installed?

Anyone point me in the right direction?
