fedora core 6 freezing !!


hi ..

i've been using fc6 for about 2 weeks and i like it very much ,,didn't practice more stable linux !
but today i had something strang the system hang ! no way to enter text mode or anything !! /just like one of m$ windwos freezes /
after reseting i had this in my /var/log/messages

While you only provided part of the backtrace, it looks like the VMWare kernel driver failed. Have you applied the latest VMWare patches?

am using vmware 5.5.3 build 34685 and no updates available when checking for updates .. shall i keep looking for patches ?

If you haven't applied any patches, the current one is vmware-any-any-update105.tar.gz at the link above. Follow these instructions:

wget http://ftp.cvut.cz/vmware/vmware-any-any-update105.tar.gz
tar xzf vmware-any-any-update105.tar.gz
cd vmware-any-any-update105
./runme.pl

Allow the 'runme.pl' above to replace files and run the VMWare configuration.
