Fedora Core 6 64-bit can't "see" my hd-fujitsu 120 GB SATA

Fedora Core 6 64-bit can't "see" my hd on my dell inspiron 1501 laptop. It is a fujitsu 120 GB SATA drive.

I really like Fedora and want to dual boot with Vista.

Knoppix 5 can recognize the drive so linux drivers exist.I should mention the laptop is fully 64-bit capable.

Anyone know a good work around? I am not an expert-less than one year with my own computer-, I am not on line except at the library. I don't really know what compiling a kernal even means. So please use explicit directions if you respond. Thank you.

SATA drive unrrecognizable on fd6

I just assembled a rig, gigabyte ds3 with e6400 and a WD SATA drive.
vista recognizes the drive like a breeze. however fedora core 6 (64bit) couldnt find it. I've also tried the boot command all-generic-ide along with changing the bios onboard sata controller>AHCI but still in vain.

some boards also say that it's because of the JMicron controller, however, JMB which is the driver for the JMicron chip was shipped with kernel 2.6.18. and the kernel recognized the chip anyway so I suspect that would be the problem.

I tried UBUNTU and suse but they all have the same problem.
