Fedora Core 1 Sound Issues

Howdy Everybody I am slowly getting everything working on my system.

BTW I love apt-get apparently it has filled a whole that the add/remove packages program just didnt fit into.

But here is my problem....I have a Creative Laps Soundblaster Live! X-Gamer with the emu10k processor i belive. when I go to do a sound test in system settings>soundcard detection i try to play the test sound and I dont get anything.

I tried sndconfig from another post but was unable to locate it (even after installing it via apt-get) I have noticed that when i go to the volume controls the only one there is the Mic.

please help I need sounds other than that infernal beep

The problem probably is that sndconfig is not in your PATH.
You need to be root and update your PATH-variable to run it:
Code:
su
source /etc/profile
sndconfig
I hope this helps you. Most sound related problems in Fedora I know of are related to the incomplete inclusion of ALSA. If you are using core 1 (which uses OSS IRC) and have not made any manual changes, this will probably not be your problem though.

Hope this gives you an idea of what to do,

just got done moving back home from college for the summer....I havenot set up my linux box yet because i am too busy setting up the less reliable windows boxes fixing the numerous viruses and malware my family felt the need to download

I will try this as soon as it is back up and running. Then I will let you know how it worked.
