Exclamation fedora 15 : ata4 acpi get timing mode failed

hi,
i'm having a new problem with my fedora 15.

i use duel boot with win7 and fedora 15 and have 2 HDs, both sata. i was seeing ata4 acpi get timing mode failed msg while the system was booting for last few days, but it didn't cause any problem. but from yesterday, none of my partitions are showing in fedora other than the fedora partition. the filsystem>media shows empty. i've checked the cables and from windows, every partition is fine, but not in fedora.

i need urgent help. pls.

We volunteer here so this is NOT "urgent"

Also you are aware that fedora 15 is long dead .( R.I.P. )
It went end of life back in June of 2012 14 MONTHS ago .
So you have been running a OS that has NOT received any security updates in 14 months .
You would NOT do that on a Windows install ,so please do not do it on a Linux install .

Fedora 19 is the current version
You will need to do a new clean install of fedora 19
there is NO update path to move from 15 to 19

as to the issue
have you read the boot and massage logs?
/var/log/boot.0.log
/var/log/massages

Also did you do anything to these drives from Win7 ?
Like partition a drive ?

Quote:
none of my partitions are showing in fedora other than the fedora partition.
is the auto mount folder/media the only thing not showing the other drive
dose a movie dvd mount and play a movie ?
or a data dvd auto mount ?

did you add any entries to /etc/fstab to mount partitions ?

what happens if you manually mount one of the unknown partitions ?
as in can you mount it ?

can the drives be seen by fdisk ?
please post the output of
Code:
su -
fdisk -l

hi,
thanks for ur reply.

i'm using f15 for a long time and i've got used to it. so i haven't thought about upgrading to f19.

anyway, i've check with a data dvd, it mounts automatically, without any issues.

another thing, all the partitions are showing regularly with dolphin. i can acess all of them and once they are acessed in dolphin, they appears in the default explorer/browser. but without dolphin, they used to appear in the default file browser and i need to bring that back.

with windows, i didn't do any partition, but last time i connected an ipod n don't remember if i ejected it from the OS before unplugging. if i haven't, then can it be the cause for all these?

that is the normal behavior
unless you add entries to the fstab file to mount them

partitions are not mounted until you need them

fedora 15 is unsupported and dead
will NEVER have any updates and has not received any updates in the last 14 months , and never will .

Fedora ONLY supports any one version for only 13 months with a NEW version released every 6 months

If you are going to use fedora ,it is recommended that you install the NEW version every 6 months
a new clean install is still preferred but the NEW upgrading software in fedora 18 and 19 "FedUP" looks like it might work well
-- once you install fedora19 upgrading to fedora 20 in 5 months should be some what easy

i dont understand. as i've said, the partitions used to come automatically on the left of the default file browser. i used it for more than years and had this. i didn't do anything with fstab. i just needed to click on them (and put the password) to mount and access them.

anyway, i took your advice and installed f19. this one is showing all the partitions on left of the file browser, just like ago. so my problem is solved for now.
