I have done a fresh install of FC6 64bit, done all updates and generally been setting it up over the last 3 days for four users. I use KDE for the desktop.
I initially changed the KDM Login manager to one of the one that comes with KDE or FC called circles I think it is. It has the faces icons down the left side so the users can click on their icon and login.
When I change the KDM Login manager with the KDM Theme Manager under control centre it says it has changed but when I log out it still shows the same circles Login Manager. I have a lookse at /etc/kde/kdm/kdmrc and it shows in there as being changed to the different Login Manager ie:
But it doesnt seem to take when I logout. I dont know what I have done as over a couple of days I have done updates and worked through the setup guides for FC6 so have changed all sorts of things I suppose.
On a side note I had all the screensavers available when I first installed and tried them out. Now near the end of my setup I went to enable a screensaver under Control Center, screensavers and it shows up that I have none installed.
I checked under yum and I have all the screensavers loaded on. I dont know where each screen saver is stored though although under /usr/share/applnk/System/ScreenSavers, it has some like skyrocket.desktop if that is them.
It wouldnt surprise me if these two are related to my setting up KDE somewhere along the way.
Look forward to any help you can give me on these issues.
Hi,
Fedora by default uses GDM as the display manager - and since the "circles" theme is one that is available for GDM, I assume you didn't set this to KDM. So, when you make any changes in the control center module for KDM, they don't have any effect on GDM. If you want to change the theme for GDM, you have to run gdmsetup
Cheers

Thanks for that. I woke up this morning and wondered about logging into gnome, I installed both gnome and kde environment, and trying and changing KDM login theme from there.
Ran gdmsetup under KDE and there it was, Happpy Gnome with browser. Will try and change my Login screen with GDM. Is there a way to change the default GDM to KDM default.
Man I spent about 4 hours trying alsorts but didnt know to do a simple gdmsetup.
If you want to change to KDM, you have to do the following:
Open (or create if it doesn't exist, but it should be there) the file /etc/sysconfig/desktop and add the following two lines:
