I assume you mean eth0. This could mean several things. Things you can try. some might work some might not.

How long are you waiting before giving up. eth0 maybe trying to get and ip from a dhcp server. If not running a network then it could take some time. Give about 5 minutes and see if it continues. If not you will need to edit some files. If it does finally boot Iwould edit the network card and turn it off at boot

Other things to try:

Boot up in Rescue mode and edit file:/etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth0
Change booton=yes to booton=no

Boot up in Rescue mode and edit file:/etc/modprobe.conf and disable the eth0 line with a ' # ' character at the front of the line. Don't konw if this will work if kudzu is working. You would have to kill kudzu by editing file:/etc/sysconfig/kudzu. Change boot statement to read no.

If I think up other things I will post

Who is the provider?
Is it Cable or DSL?
Do they authenicate by MAC Address?
Do they use PPPOE or PPP?
Have they giving you a Static IP, Gateway, and DNS info?
Do you have a router in between you and your broadband connection?

I recommend getting a Cable/DSL/router/firewall device. That will add the security needed till you understand linux firewall if you wish to use.
