Unhappy FC2 with a Winmodem - anyone had any success?

OK. It nearly killed me but I got FC2 and WinXP to happily play together. FC2 is humming along beautifully......but

Yep this is another Linux and winmodem question. I have downloaded every 2.6 kernel driver I can get my hands on, and still no activity.

Does someone have a step by step guide that can help me install whatever driver is required to get my poor little modem working with the 2.6 kernel?

Cheers

There are many different kinds of modems. Some work with the correct driver and some simply do not (yet).

Thanks David. I have a stock standard Lucent 56k modem that works like a dream with kernel 2.4.22, but getting the right "driver" for kernel 2.6 is a trying endevour.

I've read of other people having success, but I just don't know what it is I'm doing wrong. I'm assuming that the kernel source is required? Do you know if FC2 installs it by default, or do I need to install it myself?

Thanks

After you get the kernel-source head on over to linuxant.com and check it out.

Thanks again David....but I don't have a Conexant modem. It's a Lucent chipset winmodem.
