Disk output every five seconds

My FC3 system does a disk write every five seconds. The system has no user processes running. vmstat shows it is writing 28 blocks. I have software RAID1 configured.

Does anyone know what process is writing to disk every five seconds and why?

Thanks,
Mike

Use the top command to check your swap usage. Sometimes Linux uses idle time to "pre swap" memory to swap to save time if and when swapping starts for real.
