Yes, maybe so. I think I'll wait a while to see if anyone else bites here. If it's only me, I'll just assume that Murphy was just playing with my system.
I did check the rest of my /etc/rc.d/init.d entries, and the only other services not known to chkconfig (or obviously not needed as a service) are all Bluetooth related, and, since I don't use Bluetooth, that didn't surprise me.
Code:
$ for x in `ls -1 /etc/rc.d/init.d`;do /sbin/chkconfig --list $x 1>/dev/null; done
service dund supports chkconfig, but is not referenced in any runlevel (run 'chkconfig --add dund')
service firstboot supports chkconfig, but is not referenced in any runlevel (run 'chkconfig --add firstboot')
service functions does not support chkconfig
service gdm-allow-login supports chkconfig, but is not referenced in any runlevel (run 'chkconfig --add gdm-allow-login')
service gdm-early-login supports chkconfig, but is not referenced in any runlevel (run 'chkconfig --add gdm-early-login')
service halt does not support chkconfig
service hidd supports chkconfig, but is not referenced in any runlevel (run 'chkconfig --add hidd')
service killall does not support chkconfig
service pand supports chkconfig, but is not referenced in any runlevel (run 'chkconfig --add pand')
service single does not support chkconfig
service zzz-bootup-complete supports chkconfig, but is not referenced in any runlevel (run 'chkconfig --add zzz-bootup-complete')
Oh, I use kdm, not gdm, so the gdm login support services don't need to run on my system.
