As in a previous post, I just installed Fedora, and my cable modem won't work through usb. I WANT to use usb if I can. if I pop in a knoppix cd and run that os, no problem, everything is fine.
My question is - what is it that knoppix has that fedora does not? I can't seem to get an answer from anyone on where to go to specifically configure a usb modem connection. Someone mentioned I should buy a router, but I just simply can't afford any more equipment any longer. If I try the modem directly into the ethernet connection on my motherboard, the modem lights don't even show a connection. I would REALLY like to use the usb connection for now, if possible. Can anyone tell me where I go to configure this?
Sorry if I sound frustrated - I just really want this distro to work!
Thank you! I am up and running now. I appreciate you steppng me through this - the answer came to me as I saw through if config - I had to click on "enable" from the gui - thank you so much for sticking that out with me.
