Compiling source, finds no c compliler

Hi,

Recently installed FC4, plain desktop version. I downloaded the minicom tarball and wanted to install. When running ./configure, it gave me a message that it couldn't find a c compiler. As far as I can tell, FC4 comes with gcc, which looks like it's installed. (I did a file search on gcc, and it came up with a couple of directories).

What do I need to do in order to make it work? I'm new to Linux, so I'm probably missing something basic...

thanks,
john

try typing gcc --version at a command prompt. If it returns a version number, it is installed. If it says "Command not found", then it needs to be installed.

Some distributions don't install development tools on a standard desktop installation.
