Can't run Xorg :0 -configure

Hello!

I attempted to save the current xorg configuration to a file
by running:

Xorg :0 -configure

and got:

Code:
<localhost.localdomain>Xorg :0 -configure
/usr/libexec/Xorg.wrap: Only console users are allowed to run the X server
Why is that?

Al also attempted to switch to console (Alt+Ctrl+F3) and run as root
the command: X -configure but got error mesages related to
"server already running".

So, how can I save into a file my current xorg configuration?

I'm running FC23+KDE and the video card is:FireGL V5600.

TIA,
kaza.

Seems like you have to logout of the graphical environment and then probably terminate the graphical login manager first. Being root helps to kill it. If your install is kde-based, it might be kdm (old) or sddm (newer). Then a
Code:
killall nameofyourloginmanager
should end it and you might be able to run your command.

you are aware that fedora 23 goes END OF LIFE next month

time to upgrade to fedora 25

you need to kill x11 to do that

the old "telinit 3 " should still work ( run as root)
or boot into text only
