Unhappy Broadcom wireless driver for fedora 8

I'm using a HP compaq 6720s laptop with core 2 duo processor. I installed fedora 8 recently and it works well. Unfortunately Broadcom wireless card is not identify by fedora. I tried bcm43xx-fwcutter to extract from Windows driver. Driver extracted well. I used a driver version of b****.sys. not working. Can anybody guide me?

Hello dnsanjeewa

Fedora 8 no longer has the bcm43xx driver. It uses the more modern b43 and b43legacy drivers.

/sbin/lspci -v

will identify for us exactly which broadcom card you are using.

will identify if either of the b43 modules is being loaded for your card.

This page will identify which firmware you should be downloading to cut with the b43-fwcutter to make fedora identify the card:

You "may" need to do the second part of the 'method 2' howto here to get the card recognised but mine was/is working without it.
