Unhappy Broadcom wireless driver for fedora 8

I'm using a HP compaq 6720s laptop with core 2 duo processor. I installed fedora 8 recently and it works well. Unfortunately Broadcom wireless card is not identify by fedora. I tried bcm43xx-fwcutter to extract from Windows driver. Driver extracted well. I used a 3.xxx.xx driver version of b****.sys. not working. Can anybody guide me?

Hello dnsanjeewa

Fedora 8 no longer has the bcm43xx driver. It uses the more modern b43 and b43legacy drivers.

/sbin/lspci -v

will identify for us exactly which broadcom card you are using.

/sbin/lsmod

will identify if either of the b43 modules is being loaded for your card.

This page will identify which firmware you should be downloading to cut with the b43-fwcutter to make fedora identify the card:

You "may" need to do the second part of the 'method 2' howto here to get the card recognised but mine was/is working without it.
