automount sda1 should give desktopicon

I've just converted from Mandrake 10.1 to Fedora Core 3.

On mandrake, when I connected my USB Harddrive, it automounted and placed an icon on my desktop.

Now, on Fedora Core 3, it automounts in /media/H300 nothing else happens.

I can access the device in this directory, but the feature of in mandrake, where you automatically got a desktop-icon when you plugged in your usb-device was neat and I miss it.

The same goes when I insert a CD- / DVD-rom.

Is there any way I can get this feature into my Fedora Core 3 - KDE desktop?

Do you have to use KDE? I have no problems with /meda/usbdisk popping up on the destop or /media/cdrecorder popping up either. Using Gnome that is. Maybe since FC3's default is gnome, it doesn't have the options for what you want?

Open up KDE's control center. Should be in Preferences.
Click on desktop then behavior then device icons tab. Choose which icons you want to show.

I checked out that page in Control Center. This is what I was looking for.

The only problem is there is no option for my sda / extended harddrive-partitions. So, now I can make my CDs, my sambas, printers, floppys and even my regualr (hda) harddrive-partitions pop up, but not my SDAs.

I probably need to add an item to the list... Anyone knows how?

I've found a way to get an icon. I'm using FC2 and after you mount everything rt-click on the desktop (create new ->Device) choose one and rt-click on icon-> (properties) -> Device tab and point to the device.
