Question APT Help

I just installed 'apt' using yum: "yum install apt". The installation process went without a hitch, but when I attempt to execute apt I receive the error message: "apt: command not found". I have used the command "whereis apt" and cannot find the executable file associated with apt.

rpm -q apt returns "apt-0.5.14cnc5-0.fdr.10.1", which leads me to believe the application is installed. What am I missing? Thanks in advance.
