Apt-Get Segmentation Fault

Hi buddy,

I am getting a "segmentation fault" error whenever I run "apt-get update" from

# apt-get update
Get:1 fedora/linux/3/i386 release [1820B]
Fetched 1820B in 2s (750B/s)
Get:1 fedora/linux/3/i386/core pkglist [1668kB]
Get:2 fedora/linux/3/i386/core release [151B] s
Get:3 fedora/linux/3/i386/updates pkglist [623kB]
Get:4 fedora/linux/3/i386/updates release [157B]
Get:5 fedora/linux/3/i386/freshrpms pkglist [232kB]
Get:6 fedora/linux/3/i386/freshrpms release [161B]
Fetched 2523kB in 12m6s (3476B/s)
Segmentation fault

When I comment out the servers from my apt sources.list file, I also get a segmentation fault error:

# apt-get update
Segmentation fault

This is my full sources.list file with commented out. I have a local directory acting as my RPMS repository because I am on dial-up.
# See for a list of other repositories and mirrors.

# FC3 RPMs on Hard Disk
rpm-dir file:/root/ RPMS fc3freshrpms

# FC3
# rpm fedora/linux/3/i386 core updates freshrpms
# rpm fedora/linux/3/i386 tupdates
# rpm-src fedora/linux/3/i386 core updates freshrpms
# rpm-src fedora/linux/3/i386 tupdates __________________________________________________________

In fact, when I startup Synaptic, it too simply "disappears" and will not work.

Do you know what is causing the two problems, and how I can resolve them?

Best Regards,

Using Fedora Core 3!
