This is not elementary issue it happens on all Linux distributions with newer kernels. Currently Ubuntu is still evaluating this bug. If had this webcam than it would be the same boat as my kernel is 5.4.0.100. Plus if you did downgrade to older kernel it could cause issues with your hardware.

This command will list all the kernels installed on your system.

Code:
sudo dpkg --list | grep linux-image

If I got you right it's not good to downgrade to an older kernel?

The only kernel that is known to work with the cam is kernel 5.4.0-91 and your system is is using 5.13 branch. So I would yes it could cause issues installing 5.4 branch. Plus all the other kernels listed would need removed for the 5.4 would be even loaded. This could cause wifi card, graphics issues.

Okay, dave67, thank you so much for your help. With a little more googling after all your infos I found the solution here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/c...m_not_working/

There's a workaround described that helps until a new kernel is born... ;-)
Thank you again! :-)

I am glad that there was a work around. I did so much reading about this I had a theory that maybe there was a bug with loading the video driver but nothing to prove it.There are so many users that have this webcam and this bug I suspect that the kernel patch will be soon. The more users that experience a bug the faster it seems that a patch is implemented.

Linux mint 18 had a bug with its update manager. The update manager uses python 4.x and the LM18 team updated the python version to 5.x. If users used the update manager it would change home folders to root permissions the Entire desktop vanished. The LM team had to rewrite the update manager from the bug report I read. I had to reinstall the OS. I used the commandline though out LM18 for updates and software installation. It's been fixed of course.
