I'm a newbie, I've installed a few dif distros and got Xandros from LinuxUser Mag. I like it and started installing music editing apps. I found DEB files install nice (after resolving the dependencies).

problem 1 - The program Ardor came as an RPM. I used Xandros Network to install it and I got no errors and it showed up in the Launch menu. When I clicked on it, it wouldn't open. Same thing when I tried to install some other things from RPM.

problem 2 - I don't have high speed at home, just dial-up and a Panara Bread with free wireless around the corner. I can't get online either way, Xandros sees both devices but I can't connect with the modem or the wireless card.

SO...

I can't utilize the online part of Xandros Networks.

My Questions:
1 - How do I configure the modem and the wireless card?? ( I could connect through my XP computer but I shouldn't have to)

2 - Should I be able to install RPM's from Xandros Network? How? Does it need to connect to install them?

My system is a ThinkPad R31

I do not know about your first porblem, but the answer to the second question is no.

Xandrod uses the Debian packages, and thus only debian pacakges can be installed by default. In order to intall RPMs, you need to use the following package: Debian - alien package)
