what is on that 7cd`s of Debian?


hi!
i want to download woody debian 30r2. I wonder what is on each cd? Should I download all cd`s? Maybe on someone are source codes of this distributions?

The cds have boatloads of software. You only need the first to install, then only get the cds with stuff you want on them.

You dont need much more than the first, and perhaps the fifth. The rest are just more packages. Its usually a waste to burn them all, because 90% of the packages on them need upgrades anyow.

This is a very good question.

I downloaded the entire set of 7 CDs and during the installation process only used CD1. Debian install did "read" the listings of each CD in the set, but never called for them afterwards.

Is there anywhere I can find the content listing of each CD?

Usually the servers you get them from have a package list. be in for a read (boring and all plain text). An easier way is to go to the nicely formatted packages pages and look at them categorically. Better get yerself a coffee. The list is long!
