I can, but it sure ain't much fun (i didn't tweak it or such, just a stock install with fluxbox/e16/icewm). I use it for learning cli-stuff and don't start X.
How little memory? When I boot into lxde I am only using around 50mb. A window manager would be even less.
You can run linux debian with a 64mb pc?
I have experienced the same, but still, 50mb is saying crontab memory. but this, if you compare to an old mandrake or corel linux, you can see that those kernel are ultra light with nothing, which leaves a much faster Windows manager and linux, overall
IIRC up until recently Debian did support i386 machines, but now I believe the threshold is i486. So, I think it would be a major effort to get it to run on a 286.
