Updating grub with BusyBox; on Etch #1 Disk

I have a dual-boot system: Debian-Etch and XP Professional. XP went sour with the 'Blue Screen of Death'; and rather than mess with their Recovery Console; and having already backed up pertinent data to my Etch drive; I want to use the net-install disk of Etch to update grub; after I re-install XP.
I first needed to familiarize myself with BusyBox. I let Etch go as far as working with the partitions; and then I did Alt-F2, to get to the BusyBox console.
I need to mount the root partition; do a chroot to it; then a mount -a command; followed by grub-install.
However I am stumped as to how to mount the root partition. Help, please.

Unless you're hell-bent on using GRUB as a bootloader, might I suggest using WinXP's BOOT.INI?

Hack the Windows NT/2000/XP Boot Loader.
