Using this page
http://www.jw-stumpel.nl/input.html as a guide, I have tried to setup uim and anthy on my machine. I'm running Debian sarge with Gnome as my DE. I followed the guide and restarted my machine, but I don't get the input selector bar on my desktop. I've tried just about everything I know how to do but I can't get the sucker to appear. Here's what I have installed:
- uim & anthy along with their dependencies
- uim-xim
- uim-fep
- uim-gtk2.0
- uim-helper-server
- uim-applet-gnome
When I run ps axu | grep uim, here are the results:
gdm 3038 0.0 0.0 1788 496 ? S 12:27 0:00 uim-helper-server
tyler 3106 0.0 0.4 13356 4692 ? S 12:27 0:00 uim-xim
Things that I think I may have done wrong, but have no idea how to fix:
1) Created a file /etc/X11/Xsession.d/93fep with these contents:
export XMODIFIERS=@im=uim
export GTK_IM_MODULE=uim
uim-toolbar-gtk-systray&
uim-xim&
The guide says "make sure that the following commands are run when you start X" and goes on to say that it may be different for different distros, but the author did this and said it worked for him. Maybe I need to make this file executable...?
I've got one more thing I just thought of trying, so I'll restart X and if it works I'll post my solution here. Otherwsie please help out a fellow Debian user
Edit
Nope, it didn't work
