sharing a deskjet printer on a windows machine
Hi all Having lots of fun reading about samba (last I knew it was a dance...). Making some progress on sharing a Deskjet printer attached to a windows xp machine.
from my Deb 4.0 machine I have issued smbclient -L FRED -N and the result was great it found my Windows printer share called Deskjet940c. So far so good.
I'm now configuring CUPS following a nice 'mini howto' but here's where my knowledge falls down a bit (a lot). I issued this:
lpadmin -p FREDPrinter -v smb://FRED/Deskjet940c -P /root/deskjet940c.ppd
But I'm cooked now as it complains with:
lpadmin: No such file or directory
Should I put //FRED/Deskjet940c in the printer share in smb.conf?
also is /root/deskjet940c.ppd supposed to be a printer driver for the HP Deskjet? Where might I get such a beast?
Thanks a lot for any help,
Greeb
