Running Gnome and KDE on different desktops

Though I have both Gnome and KDE, I use KDE as default and haven't used Gnome for a couple of months.
Well yesterday I had a play with gdesklets and now I have a very strange problem - I have 4 virtual desktops but one of them seems to be running Gnome.
It refuses to show a wallpaper and the desktop icons are Gnome ones, even though I have set KDE settings to not show them, also the right-click menu is the Gnome one, though I still have the KDE panel.
All the other Virtual desktops are working normally but if I cut it down to 3 or 2 of them, one of them is always showing the Gnome icons and right-click menu.
Is there anything I can do to solve this? I have used gdesklets in the past and it didn't cause this problem.

you probably started nautilus while inside a kde session. if you want to use nautilus inside kde, start it with the --no-desktop switch, that way it won't take over your desktop.

I didn't think that was likely since when I did use Gnome I always used Konqueror because I don't like Nautilus but I checked the KDE task manager and sure enough, Nautilus was running.
I killed the process and my desktops went back to normal.
Thanks a lot for the info.
