Questions on using the "base-config" program

Hi All,

OK, I'm confused. I have installed Debian sarge a few times now but have ongoing problems with my X server.

I have an ATI Rage Pro Trubo RGPRO 49802 card with Intel 440BX chip set. I select "ati" for the X server. The screen resolution is always 800x600. Also, the wheel on my wheel mouse doesn't work.

OK, so I want to rerun base-config so I can try different video cards, etc. This is where I'm having trouble!

Can someone tell me how to rerun base-config and be able to get to the menus that allow me to specify video card values, mouse, and so forth?

I can't figure out how to get to these screens without popping the CD in the drive and going through the whole installation process again... including downloading all the packages! There must be a way to do this.

I also tried running base-config new but couldn't get to the pertinent screens.

Basically I want to be able to get to the screens that appear right after the packages are all installed... where the config program prompts you for monitor data, video card, etc, then go to the mouse selection, keyboard, etc.

All help is appreciated!
