questions about apache in 3.0r2

Hi all:

I want to install the apache web server ONLY in my machine (Debian 3.0r2, kernel 2.4).

I type "apt-get install apache". The command install the mail server "exim".
When I type "apt-get remove exim", the command remove the "apache" also.

I want to install apache ONLY and no mail client and server.
What should I do?

Thanks.

Why don't you just configure exim for local delivery only...?
