Exclamation programs that load at boot

ok, it all seemed like a good idea at the time...

i have been using esd as my sound server for some time, and got tired of running the command when KDE starts, so i decided to download Webmin and tell it to run esd when i boot my computer.

it wasnt untill i issued the 'reboot' command that i saw the error in my ways....when you run the command 'esd' it does not stop.

well, the boot process won't finish now...it sits there after running esd.

is there any script, or document, or anything i can edit from a knoppix CD that will tell it not to load esd anymore?

*feeling very dumb*

sheesh...what a newbie mistake....

Try booting into single-user mode, using
Code:
linux s
instead of
Code:
linux
at the boot prompt. (You need to type this; replace “linux” with whatever you call the default linux boot).

You can then edit the /etc/rc.d/boot.local script (or wherever else webmin puts it), and put an ampusand (&) after “esd”:
Code:
esd &
to make it start up in the background.
