Did you install the firmware manually as instructed in my previous post? If not, then do so first.

The 'buntuforums thread looks much like the howto for this on the arch wiki page. Just download the wl driver and extract and install the other firmwares:

$ tar xfvj broadcom-wl-4.150.10.5.tar.bz2
# b43-fwcutter --unsupported -w /lib/firmware broadcom-wl-4.150.10.5/driver/wl_apsta_mimo.o

Then do

# modprobe -r b43 b43legacy && modprobe b43legacy

# dmesg | grep firmware

and post the outputs.

Well the driver cannot find the firmware... try doing

and if there is no output refer to my post #13 on the previous page again.

I just downloaded the wl_apsta-3.130.20.0.o file and extracted the firmware and that file is included and saved in the correct location under /lib/firmware:

Hello and thank you as I type this wirelessly.

I rebooted the computer and turned off the network card in the BIOS, then went to post 13. As I had already downloaded the file, I just did the installer

Then the modprobe command

modprobe -r b43 b43legacy ssb && modprobe b43legacy

Now it works, as I knew that in WICD the wireless would be wlan0.

So now to turn the NIC card on and see what happens.
