problems updating sources.list

I am trying to update my sources.list file. This is what it looks like right now:

cat sources.list
#deb file:///cdrom/ sarge main

#deb ftp://mirror.direct.ca/pub/linux/debian/ stable main
#deb-src ftp://mirror.direct.ca/pub/linux/debian/ stable main

deb ftp://ftp3.nrc.ca/debian/ stable main
deb-src ftp://ftp3.nrc.ca/debian/ stable main

#deb http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/debian ./
debian1:/etc/apt#

It worked before with mirror.direct.ca but for some reason I cannot connect to that server. I get server closed connection messages.

With the new mirror I get errors saying: Couldn't stat source package.

Can anyone tell me what my problem is?

It looks like the mirror is down. Maybe for upgrades, repairs, or a simple crash who knows. I guess you'll have to choose another mirror until this one is up again.

Right but my problem is any new mirror I put in my sources.list file gives me errors when I try to run apt-get. It keeps giving me the "Couldn't stat source package" error.

Please don't take this as a dumb question, but have you run

apt-get update

after changing your sources.list?
