PHP 4 module not loaded into apache

I just did the apt-get install libapache-mod-php4 like it said to do on the php.net site, and also made sure I removed the comments to addtype for php 4 in the apache httpd.conf, I also added Include /etc/apache/conf.d/ before all the other <ifmodule> stuff because it didnt say where exactly to put it on the php.net site. I saved the config file and restarted apache and it doesnt recognize php files, and also php4 does show up in the add module section of apache in webmin. Did I screw something up in the httpd.conf file or did I forget to add something? Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Hi

I'm not using Debian but I think that you need to go to the conf.d directory and edit the httpd-php.conf file to remove the comments on the LoadModule and AddType statements. Restart Apache and it should load PHP for you. This is what I do on TSL (Trustix Secure Linux).

I hope that this helps.

Richard.

You did not specify which version of Apache you are using. If you are using Apache2 then you need libapache2-mod-php4.
