Hi, after trying sarge for a while. I have decided to move on to Sid(have done some researches on the web and surprisingly found that many ppl suggest Sid over Etch...).
I downloaded the official daily build of the testing installation CD(built on 15 Aug 2005) and tried to install from it. Unfortunately it has a serious bug in it at the moment [
http://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/.../msg00421.html ] regarding the network config. I haved tried to boot with kernel 2.4 on the same CD and it seemed to work(I stopped the installation after I verified this).
Now I have thought of a few options to install Sid and would like to hear your opinions on it.
1. Install sarge with the stable installation disc. Then edit /etc/apt/sources.list. apt-get -u dist-upgrade.
2. Install with kernel 2.4 with the daily build CD. Then do whatever necessary after the installation(i.e. upgrade to 2.6 if needed).
3. Wait until the bug is fixed. With no guarantee new bugs don't arise.
What do you think?
