network trouble

ok .. i have an adsl modem/router ip = 192.168.1.1

my debian box has 2 nics i have set the one to ip 192.168.1.151 the other one does not come up <- this is prob 1.

the next prob is i was connecting to the net fine till i started playing with routing etc and i have stuffed something up <- prob 2.

the reason for setting up fixed ip on eth0 (the card conected to the modem/router) is beacuse i have two adsl account. one for me and one for the family. (we have a nasty cap down here in SA so i get my own so i don't cap theres)
anyway after installing i changed my ip from dhcp assigned to static and set up the pppoe acount and that also worked fine.
somewhere along the line while playing with routing something went wrong

at this piont i'm not sure what info u need but i need to get this up soon

thanks

gray

p.s. i have read tones of stuff already - i think thats what got me into trouble started getting confused.
if someone could even point me in the direction of a good debian way of network config maybe that will help
again if more info is needed let me know i'll post it! ta
