linux single in debian


i forgot my root password, how could i start debian to boot in linuxsingle for me to change my root password, tnx in advance.

newbie here...

you cant, you still need a root password to get into single user mode.

boot into knoppix, su to root, mount your root directory (if it isnt already) and chroot it (ex: chroot /dev/hda1). Now run passwd.
