liblame0 and libmp3lame0 conflicts...

anyone get stuck with this issue?

I love mplayer/mencoder... great program..
tovid is a great program as well ....

for some reason, debian - wants only liblame0 or libmp3lame0 and not both...

mplayer/mencoder prefers libmp3lame0

tovid prefers liblame0

has anyone had this issue? really a confusing one.....

thanks!

Are you using sid or sarge? I just tried without any conflicts (I have mencoder installed) but I am using Sid.

Add this source

deb http://packages.kirya.net/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free

correction (error on my behalf.. i think)

these are the following proggys I'd like to install:
mplayer (requires libmp3lame0)
mencoder (requires libmp3lame0)
ffmpeg (requires liblame0)
tovid (requires mencoder)
avidemux (requires liblame0)

to minorly work around it, i kept ffmpeg, avidemux, and liblame0 installed, and manually compiled and installed (safely uninstallable with make uninstall - from what I see) mplayer/mencoder and will be doing that later with tovid.. although I don't really like it.

my apt sources.list is listed at the lq's deb source list forum

... i think i am using sid. should be... i installed this debian distro with the dfs installer..

FOUND THE ISSUE too many apt sources.list that had conflicting versions....

for the heck of it, i commented out these in my list:
#deb ftp://ftp.mowgli.ch/pub/debian sid unofficial
#deb http://camorama.fixedgear.org/downloads/debian ./
#deb http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/debian sid main
#deb http://userpages.umbc.edu/~fu1/debian unstable main
#deb http://home.icequake.net/~nemesis/debian binary/
#deb http://apt.cerkinfo.be/ unstable main contrib
#deb http://packages.kirya.net/debian/ stable main contrib non-free
#deb-src http://packages.kirya.net/debian/ stable main contrib non-free

and kept only these:
deb http://debian.midco.net/debian/ unstable main contrib
deb-src http://debian.midco.net/debian/ unstable main contrib
deb http://security.debian.org/ stable/updates main contrib
deb http://mirrors.kernel.org/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free
deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org/ testing main
deb http://packages.kirya.net/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free
deb-src http://packages.kirya.net/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free

and everything installed 100% working

*sigh* darned repositories can conflict every now and then, so becareful if you're like me :P

Hi, Penguins.

A little bit generalized, but I had similar problem with xrender1. Some of tex package I need did not like sarge package. So, I installed backport package instead. Some other applications which need sarge package do not work. (broken dependency)

works safely, I will manually install new packages over Debian installation. I just do not want to confuse ldconfig and I do not need dead penguin..

Does any Penguin know the answer?
