Question Knoppix 4.0.2 HDD fails to boot

I installed a Debian system w/Knoppix 4.0.2. Install was flawless.(Yes the CD ran just fine). During bootup, initial stages are all fine, right after device statups pci, it stalls on usb... The first time it did so I tried reboots 3 times and it bypassed usb on the third, ran great. On subsequent boots... No Go, stalls on usb. Whaa?

Athalon 2500, 1Gig RAM, Nv5200, dual drive winXPdrive and Lin Drive(I had Suse before but 10 no longer uses my external modem), I think this shows a normal type system- nothing exotic.

Has anyone else encountered this? Oh yes, the kernel is 2.6.12.

Thanks in advance.

Look up the specs on your mob--what chips are used. Check bios settings. You might need to review knoppix cheat codes on booting/install to make smoother install. But then in general knoppix is great rescue/diagnostic cd/dvd and live cd but it isn't usually recommended for install. Kanotix-2005-04,SimplyMepis,Xandros,GeniosDebian or sarge or etch netinstall may be better. Hope things work out.
