Kernel error

Hello there. I am trying to install kernel 2.6.3 in a PIII 450 MHz. I am using woody.
I consulted the http://newbiedoc.sourceforge.net/sys...rnel-pkg.html, as a guide.
unfortunately when i am doing make xconfig, or menu config none of them work. it is only make config that works. the error that comes up is :
aristos@debian:/usr/src/linux$ make xconfig
make[1]: `scripts/fixdep' is up to date.
*
* Unable to find the QT installation. Please make sure that the
* QT development package is correctly installed and the QTDIR
* environment variable is set to the correct location.
*
make[1]: *** [scripts/kconfig/.tmp_qtcheck] Error 1
make: *** [xconfig] Error 2

anybody got any idea to help me?

Well, it doesn't have a development package of QT installed. Either install qt-devel, or tell us what happens with "make menuconfig"

You mentioned to install qt-devel. Aparently when i do apt-cache search qt-devel no results come up. Any ideas?

You certainly shouldn't need QT to do a menuconfig. What happens when you Ctrl-Alt-F1 to get to a console and try "make menuconfig" from there?
