Kanotix PPPOE config problem
Tried Knoppix - impressed, installed to HD, used for 2 years, no probs. Recent visit to Knoppix site revealed that HD install is NOT recommended. So, I replaced it with Kanotix. Now, I have no Internet access (except through good old reliable W98).
Knoppix detected my ethernet/dsl modem setup and connected with no hassle, no problems.
Kanotix doesn't - won't connect.
When I go to the ADSL/PPPOE Config menu, Kanotix says "Found 1 ethernet device lan0"
"Are all your ethernet interfaces listed above? If no MODCONF will be started so you can load the card drivers manually."
When I click on "NO":
/usr/sbn/pppoeconf:line177:modconf:command not found
As a newbie, I might as well be staring at a screen in chinese or greek.
Kanotix is supposed to be an improvment on Knoppix? Knoppix dealt with my internet connection hardware automatically, now this "new and improved" software blocks internet access.
What do I do? Should I re-install Knoppix, and tell the world that Kanotix is crap?
Addendumb: found where to enter internet account info, and we're off to the races! KANOTIX Rocks!
