iptables - errors on boot

Debian sid install (I know, I know, also run Etch on the same box) and I have always used guarddog to configure iptables. I did so with this latest install and on next boot started getting error messages along the lines of:
configuring network interfaces.. no chain/target/match by that name

and then alternately several times (how many times varies):
iptables - resource temporarily unavailable
chain already exists

Everything works fine. I have internet access and the firewall is actually working to allow/block the protocols I specify with guarddog.

Need ideas on where to look to troubleshooting for these messages. Googling them hasn't been very helpful. I get the idea that some service may be loading sooner/later than it should but beyond that I am stumped.

The error you're getting says that guarddog is trying to create an
invalid rule. I'm not familiar with guarddog. Do they have log
files? Maybe there's a debug mode?

Thanks for your reply. Guarddog is just a KDE front end for configuring iptables. I don't know how to write the rules for it myself as the man pages on iptables seem to be particularly cryptic for me

Being just a front end, not sure if it keeps its own log or not. Will check tonight. I have come across just one other person that had the same problem with guarddog and it eventually went away for him with some update. My error message persists so I am going to try removing it with a purge of config files and reinstalling the latest version.

Seems like it may be trying to apply the rules twice or something. I thought maybe Sidux might have had its own firewall trying to apply its own rules but apparently they don't have one.

Will also be installing Lenny on another partition and am curious if I have a problem with guarddog there.
