installing offical HP printer driver

It wont flippin even compile under debian (2.6.8.11 amd64 kernel).
It keeps conplaining about not being able to find libjpeg support

Also can someone recommend some urls (UK) for apt because I didn't setup apt to use the internet as debian didn't detect my network card so I thought I wouldn't have access to the internet. But it worked striaght out of the box lucky!!

Setting up apt:

# apt-setup

Finding libjpeg support:

$ apt-cache search libjpeg

Dead Parrot - That was great advice and to the point. I ran into the same error the other user did while trying to get the HP printer support installed, but your suggestion did the trick. Thank you!

You shouldn't need to compile anything; you can install hpijs with "apt-get install hpijs" and you can install hplip with "apt-get install hplip", etc.

It's ok guys I installed it now. I needed this other package which was a device driver for my printer. Before I installed it my printer wasn't listed within the cups web interface.

As some of you know, I had a really difficult time getting the HP printers to work with Debian. It seems that I would get so far, and run into another barrier. This was one of them. Every time I got an error that Debian was looking for something, I did an #apt-cache search "dependency", find what I am looking for, install it, and move on to the next challenge. Now that is the first thing I do when trying to install something and 90% of the time it finds what I need. Man I love the command line!.
