Installing Debian PPC on Xserve G5

Hi,

I have never had a problem installing Linux on an Apple system until now. I have tried multiple Debian and alike operating systems (Ubuntu, Fedora, etc) with the same result. I load up with the install CD/DVD... it loads all the way up to the CD check screen and locks up. If I'm quick enough I can get to the next screen but it eventually just locks up and I get no keyboard response. The system needs to be shut down and started again. I have tried multiple ISOs and multiple CDs/DVDs with the same exact result. I am using the ppc distros for them as well. I can install OSX on the box so I know it is not a hardware problem with it. I've Googled until my fingers bled and haven't found anyone else with this issue. If someone could shed some light on the subject I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks a million in advance.

Do you have any external devices connected to the machine, such as thumb drives, hard drives, cd burners etc...? If so, try removing them and try the install again.

Just a thought!

Installing Debian PPC on Xserve G5 -- Lockup

We had a similar problem that was solved by plugging in an IBMPC keyboard.
