install nvidia riva tnt2 model64/ model 64 pro

My desktop is HP Pavilion XV976, with monitor MX90, and
display card: nvidia riva tnt2 model64/model 64 pro.
I installed debian linux with kernel 2.4.27-2-386
I followed instructions according to following website:

home.comcast.net/~andrex/Debian-nVidia/installation.html

I get through every step successfully, however, when I reboot, failed to start with X.

Attached is the configuration file and log file at that time.
Anybody has clue to fix this problem?

Thanks.

I fought long and hard trying to run that video card under Fedora Core 3 for AMD-64. I finally gave up and bought another cheap video card that was better and worked. I went with another Nvidia card, and it went smoothly. I spent so little time and effort installing it, that I don't even remember what model it is. My present xorg.conf file calls it "NVIDIA GeForce FX (generic)".

I did extensive research on this site and many others, and never found a solid explanation of how to get it running reliably under X on Linux. Good luck to you if youy choose to continue. I'd still like to hear if anyone does come up with a way to make the card work reliably, as I have a system that I could upgrade with the TNT2 if a solution is found.

BTW, your immediate problem seems to be related simply to a misconfiguration of your xorg.conf file. 'no screens found' is the relevent message. I can't see anything obviously wrong with your config file; maybe someone else can see a problem.

You have the wrong version of the driver that one supports on Geforce2 MX200/400 or better you need IIRC a version of less than or equal too 7174 they call it the legacy driver if you are looking on the nvidia site.

hi, Cormier,
I downloaded 7174, and successfully installed everything quickly.
thanks.
I have one more question.
How can I change the resolution in KDE or gnome?
when start X, it comes up with NVidia logo, it means NVidia module is loaded.
But when I get in KDE->Control Center->Display, there are only
two choices for resolution: 800x600 and 640x480.
If I change XF86Config manually, put
----------------------
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
---------------------
Does it give more options in resolution change?
Thanks.

That should done automatically once you have changed the XF86Config-4 to use the higher resolution and restarted the X server. Can you post the /var/log/XFree86.0.log file? You may have to put that in two posts as it is rather big.

Thanks for your suggestions, Cormier.
I am in work, and cannot have the log file posted until back home.
I think, It might be my problem of typo, I found I typed
---------
Modes "1024x769" "800x600" "640x480"
---------
If this does not work, I will post the log file.
