in which repository could I find tvtime

hello
i want to install tvtime on my pc, i do not want the old version you get with apt-get.. and installing the new versions from sources doesn't work as there are packages needed that i don't have..
exemple or this:
configure: error: libpng needed
every two lines i have a configure error.
thank you

which release of Debian are you running? Sarge, etch or sid?

the configure errors should explain what you need in order to compile the source. You will definitly want the x11-dev package. Any package ending in dev is used for when you want to compile from source. So you will more then likely need. X11-dev, zlib1g-dev, libpng12-dev and the other dev packages for the things the configure part says you are missing.

Depends on the Debian release you are using , the version in SID is 1.0.1-2.2.
Debian -- tvtime
http://packages.debian.org/unstable/x11/tvtime

Looks like you are missing several dependencies. Take a look at the page for the Debian package and make sure you have everything it says you need.

I have normally installed sarge but i am not quite sure anymore. but I have done a couple of dist-upgrades. how do you tell the version you have? i am sure it depends of the entries you have in sources.list; i have added two entries concerning sid and etch.. to get sun java working since java-package 0.24 didn't work for me.
thank you.

Which version you have:
Code:
cat /etc/debian_version
As you can have a mixed system (stable/testing/unstable), it depends on /etc/apt/apt.conf (or /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/*), /etc/apt/preferences

This shows which packet versions you have:
Code:
apt-show-versions -b

Not really. But you do tend to run into more dependecy issues that way. And sooner or later you will hit a bug in a packages from Etch or Sid.

You are better off picking a release and sticking with it.

how i completely upgrade then? remove all repositories that are marked as stable? or how do i uninstall all that belongs to unstable?
what do you think will be better?
I think i already have your problem since today at the boot of my pc the xserver didn't work.. and when i switched off yesterday it was working flawlessly. so i'll have to upgrade completely, the packages i need aren't in sarge
thank you
ooh and apt-show-versions -b it's not a valid command.

Edit your /etc/apt/sources.list to use either the testing or sid repo's. Run an update and an dist-upgrade and it's done.
