I recently installed qmail from the qmail-src package, and now I'm getting the following message every time I do an apt-get:
sh: line 1: /usr/share/qmail-uids-gids/fixup-nofiles-group: No such file or directory
E: Problem executing scripts DPkg::Post-Invoke '/usr/share/qmail-uids-gids/fixup-nofiles-group'
E: Sub-process returned an error code
qmail-src is an unsupported package, I believe. It's available under non-free.
Here's the package description from Synaptic.
I think that there might be some problem there. Hope this helps.
Quote:
qmail is a secure Secure, reliable, efficient, simple mail transport system.
Dan Bernstein (qmail's author) only gives permission for qmail to be
distributed in source form, or binary for by approval. This package
has been put together to allow people to easily build a qmail binary
package for themselves, from source.
To build a binary deb package, first install the qmail-src package, then
type the command "build-qmail". If you try "apt-get source --build qmail-src"
it will most likely fail because the users do not exist. You MUST install
the qmail-src package first. Also be sure to build and install ucspi-tcp
before installing the binary qmail package. Install the ucspi-tcp-src package
to get ucspi-tcp.
This package builds a binary .deb that is FHS compliant and conforms to the
Debian standards guidelines. The resulting binary packages are not suitable
for re-distribution.
There are pre-compiled binary packages for qmail available, but they do not
conform to the Debian standards, and are not available in the official archive.
Thanks for the reply. I actually got qmail installed correctly, and I didn't use "apt-get source --build qmail-src". The problem is that every time I use apt-get for anything, I get the error message mentioned above. I don't care about qmail, I decided to remove it and use postfix with courier-imap anyhow. I just want to get rid of the error message.
It appears that dpkg expects to find /usr/share/qmail-uids-gids/fixup-nofiles-group and complains because such a file or directory doesn't exist. So maybe you could create an empty file with that name and see if that helps?
