how to compile wine on a 32-bit chroot that says it cannot open debian/changelog

I am attempting to compile wine 1.1.27 in a 32-bit chroot on my AMD64 Debian Squeeze.

I downloaded the source from winehq.org to my /usr/src/ and ran:

Code:
apt-get build-dep wine
A long list of packages were downloaded and installed.

I then tried:

Code:
Alcazar:/usr/src/wine-1.1.27# dpkg-buildpackage -uc -us -b
dpkg-buildpackage: set CFLAGS to default value: -g -O2
dpkg-buildpackage: set CPPFLAGS to default value:
dpkg-buildpackage: set LDFLAGS to default value:
dpkg-buildpackage: set FFLAGS to default value: -g -O2
dpkg-buildpackage: set CXXFLAGS to default value: -g -O2
tail: cannot open `debian/changelog' for reading: No such file or directory
dpkg-buildpackage: error: tail of debian/changelog gave error exit status 1
Can someone explain to me what 'tail: cannot open 'debian/changelog'' has to do with anything? Or more importantly, how I resolve this issue?

I have done a bit of googling, but I am still a little lost.

inistall it on regular amd64...

I just ran 'apt-get build-dep wine' without a chroot and then did 'CC="gcc-4.3 -m32" ./configure' whatever errors it gave me I just googled the packages/devs for i386, downloaded the debs and extracted them all to a single folder (it was labled 32bit debs) and then took each of the <package name>/usr/lib and put all those individual lib files in /usr/lib32 then did configure again. kept doing this untill i got all the proper devs/packages and it works. Then I ran make and make install, everything worked fine.

If your in debian though just get sid repo's and you can install wine-unstable which is updated to 1.1.27 or whatever
