Hi,

I've used handbrake a few times and I think that even though the extension is mkv (m4v?), the real file type is mpeg. I've manually renamed the files to mpeg and they play fine on my digital TV set. BTW, there's a handbrake gui that can make things easier -- I simply type the file title and extension on the file title field and select mpeg-4 in the format field.

Cheers.

It is rather hard to understand your problem with this ammount of information.

If you have converted a file using Handbrake without reconfiguring Handbrake to replace the original file you may want to check in your /home/<user name> directory for the converted file.

I have no idea what .vd is but if you can get it converted you run the file through devede and burn the output file.

Hi Odiseo 77
I renamed the video to mpeg from mkv
Have tried the disk on two dvd players and it is not recognized
The disk burnt with 3kb is fine Audio and video plays on computer no problem
Searched for handbrake gui and handbrake gui 0.93 11.25.08 old package
Used the konsole commands but no gui available
What year is your handbrake GUI

The package you are looking for is;
handbrake-gtk

It will be the same version that you are using now.

I don't think I have ever run into a .vd file. Just wondered where it came from.

As widget said, the GUI frontend is handbrake-gtk. My version number is 0.10.0, installed form the Debian Multimedia repository. On the GUI you need to specify the input file and mpeg-4 in the format field in order to convert it to mpeg.
