Gnome Kde switch in debian linux

Hi I-m a happy slackware user and wanted to try debian...
I installed the latest sarge with kde and gnome installed however when I boot, gnome is automatically started up.

Do you know how to configure X to start Kde? I can-t stand gnome !!!

I tried issuing kde-init from the console but it says it doesn-t find the video....

help please

If it automatically starts gdm you can install kdm. It should change to kde default then. You can also set the default session to kde in gdm.

Do you login through either kdm, gdm or xdm? usually theres a session menu to change which starts up.

Theres also the alternatives system in Debian. Try

update-alternatives --set x-session-manager /usr/bin/startkde
